Every Dog Has its Day

We Need Your Support

Soi Dog Foundation receives no Government funding and is 100% dependent upon donations, grants and sponsorship.

New shelter

Donate Time

SDF welcomes volunteers at the mid road shelter to assist in the socialization of the dogs and general shelter duties that may consist of the following tasks.

Working at the shelter: SDF volunteers work under the guidance of SDF and the resident vet, Jobs at the shelter include showing animals to potential adopters, helping adopters fill out the required paperwork, and caring for the animals (walking the dogs, giving the cat’s attention, grooming, etc.)

Grooming: A well-groomed dog is much more adoptable than a shaggy, mud-covered, matted mutt. If you have any experience giving pooches haircuts and bath, please help us help the animals put their best paw forward. Even if you just have the patience needed to wash a dog or brush a long-haired dog, we could use your help.

Develop/maintain the spay/neuter program: SDF needs Thai people who are willing to talk to local Thai veterinary practices and local Thai residents and explain the benefits of spay/neuter services for their animals to help our spay/neuter program to be a success. This volunteer opportunity may also require working with SDF fundraisers to ensure funding. Help us limit or eliminate the number of unplanned pregnancies in Phuket’s dog population.

Make a Financial Donation

Have you ever visited Phuket or Thailand and felt saddened and distressed by the malnourished and ill dogs that line the streets? Do you desperately want to help these dogs but just have no idea where to go or what to do?

The Soi Dog Foundation has prevented literally thousands of dogs from being born in Phuket, and has provided basic veterinary care to the dogs that already lines the streets. We need your help to ensure the continuation of this extremely successful and effective Program.

Donate Special Skills

Soi Dog Foundation has a Volunteer Visiting Vets Program, Unfortunately we are unable to pay for airfares as much as we would like to, but we are able to find suitable accommodations on the island and secure discounted hotels and guesthouses through our network of contacts and friends.

So if you would like to visit the island of Phuket, and spend some time in one of the most beautiful places in Thailand, We can offer you a worthwhile experience at our shelter and with our field clinics we can take you out into the community which is a great way to see the island and also experience and become a part of the local community.

You can explore the island and have a great holiday here in Thailand, and contribute by participating in our Spay Neuter program, or any of our field clinics.

If you're interested in volunteering as a vet, please contact us at alan@soidog-foundation.org. We love your help and hopefully you'll find it a fun and rewarding experience.

Veterinary Requirements

You need to be heat resistant, we do have air-conditioning in the surgery but some of your responsibilities will be outside in the containment areas, and when we are out in the field doing Spay Neuter clinics ,and it does get rather warm here in summer, so bring your sunscreen and a hat.

Have a sense of humor, and a great team attitude, and patience, things don’t get done instantly as it would in Europe, in Thai this attitude is called Mai Pen Rai, which roughly translates into "oh well", it doesn’t mean it won’t get done just means it will get done just now when they are ready to do it.

Have 2 years Spay Neuter, experience and 3 years veterinary experience.

Be adaptable to sometimes upsetting and distressing conditions of some of the dogs we find and the conditions they live in, particularly when out in the field.
