Every Dog Has its Day
Visiting Vets
Visiting Vets

Soi Dog Foundation has a Volunteer Visiting Vets Program. We cannot offer any financial help but have limited accommodation at the shelter or can recommend good quality budget accommodation at nearby Nai Yang beach.

So if you would like to visit the island of Phuket, and spend some time in one of the most beautiful places in Thailand, We can offer you a worthwhile experience at our shelter. We also operate field clinics in other areas such as Kao Lak and Koh Lanta. If taking part in these clinic accommodation will be provided.

You can explore the island and have a great holiday here in Thailand, and contribute by participating in our Spay Neuter program. The number of days you wish to work is entirely up to you.
If you're interested in volunteering as a vet, please contact us at alan@soidog-foundation.org. We would love your help and hopefully you'll find it a fun and rewarding experience.

Veterinary Requirements

You need to be heat resistant, we do have air-conditioning in the surgery but some of your responsibilities can be outside in the containment areas, or in the field doing Spay Neuter clinics, and in these situations it can get extremely warm so do bring sunscreen and a hat.

Have a sense of humor, and a great team attitude, and patience, things don’t get done instantly as it would in Europe, in Thai this attitude is called Mai Pen Rai, which roughly translates into "oh well", it doesn’t mean it won’t get done just means it will not get done just now, but when they are ready to do it.

Ideally vets should Have 2 years surgical experience although we can take a limited number of new graduates or final year students looking for experience, who will work under the direction of our resident Thai vets.

Be adaptable to sometimes upsetting and distressing conditions of some of the dogs we find and the conditions they live in, particularly when out in the field.
