The Soi Dog
Cat Adoption Programme

How to adopt a rescued Soi cat if living in the Thailand

Whether you are in Phuket and are looking for a pet, or you have decided to take a dog or cat to a home in another country, we can help.

Soi Dog Foundation's aim is to find loving permanent homes for some of the thousands of dogs that are born and living on the streets of Phuket.

It must be remembered that all the dogs in the centre have arrived because they have either been mis-treated or been abandoned. Some have been with us for several months or even years and it will take a little while for them to get used to the idea that they are not in competition for love and fuss.

They may take a few days to get used to a collar and lead. They may be wary of yet another change in their life, but we are confident that they will turn into loving and loyal pets, who will always be grateful that you have given them another chance to have a happy and cared for life.

How to adopt a rescued Soi dog if living in USA or Europe

SDF can arrange shipping of dogs and cats all over the world.

Prospective adopters should realize however that it is an expensive and depending on the country time consuming exercise. North America is fairly straightforward, the adopter being responsible solely for paying for the IATA approved air kennel and flight. Cost depends purely on the size of dog. Allow between 30,000 and 40,000 THB to import a medium sized dog.

Europe takes a minimum of 4 months to fulfill the requirements, and involves a blood sample being sent to Europe for testing.

It is possible to send a dog to the UK virtually immediately but the dog will have to spend 6 months in a quarantine kennel chosen by the adopter.
Alternatively We have a wonderful lady in France who will care for dogs there whilst they fulfill UK pet passport regulations:

Expect to pay a minimum of 25,000 THB to adopt a dog!

SDF charge nothing for all the running around, but adopters must pay all the expenses.
