Dear SDF supporters here in Phuket,
It is with a sad heart that I write this e mail to you on behalf of Joan Watson (PWIC) , recently on Sunday 9th March, her good friend and a long time resident of Phuket Erika Perschbacher 69 years old, the cheerful lady pictured below was found passed away in her Rawai home. Erika was a wonderful selfless caring woman who took in many unwanted stray cats during the 9 years she resided here on the island, nursing many back from bad condition all the way back to healthy happy cats.
A well known woman in Rawai the local Thai’s called her “mama” , she will be sorely missed by all that knew her, whilst the passing of such a caring lady is tragic in itself, there are now 9 cats who now have no one to care and love them in the same way she did, whilst a small provision has been made for their care in her will , the best thing for them would be to find a new loving caring home and I am hoping that some of you out there can do this for them, so if any of you would like to adopt a cat or know someone who would, please be so kind as to contact Joan: 0872820422 – English or Khun Mon 0818916290 – Thai or Ilse 0815383010 English/German
The SDF does care for cats, primarily at wats and temples through our sponsorship program and our feeding program, however we do not feel that the shelter environment will be the best option for house cats, with the dogs there they will be stressed out too much and letting them live at a temple is not going to work either, anyone who is interested to see what cats are available can contact
Joan Watson email, imm@loxinfo.co.th
Ilse email, dr.gibson@hotmail.com
We do not normally send out appeals such as this, as in reality this kind of situation is occurring on a daily basis for both cats and dogs here in Phuket and is not something unusual to happen, however in this case as a show of respect to the passing of Erika and by virtue that Joan is one of our supporters we will try to help as best we can.
Best regards
Alan
